Another year, an enlarged team, and a new vehicle. This time the SSA Oktan decided to experiment with electricity. We used a fuel cell with a palladium catalyst powered by a formic acid. The electric energy produced was converted into mechanical energy by means of a DC motor. Apart from an innovative drive, ChemCar also got an unconventional look inspired by the “Saw” movies.

Even though we didn’t earn a place on the podium, the appearance of the vehicle – for which we received a special “Best Design” prize – ensured that we did not return home empty-handed. In addition we had some fantastic experiences and made many new acquaintances.
